I awoke by a dream, a nightmare indeed,
Hovering over a place, barren it seemed.
The air struck me vibes of a summer-noon,
But, the sun just rose above the horizon.
Bewildered, I flew over the rocky plain,
Hoping to find shade from the burning sun.
Not a tree, nor a blade of grass can be seen,
Wondered I, what place it could have been.

Appeared in my view, a skeleton, at that moment;
Huge it was, I presumed it was of an elephant.
Not one, but many emerged as I went further;
Of varying sizes, big and small, as if a massacre.
In that instant, I saw a hurricane far away,
Frightening it was, like an apocalypse on its way.
It rumbled and thundered like a ravenous beast,
Destroying everything in its path like a feast.

Soared I, the other way in the speed of light,
Floated near a sea before I even realize it.
Sunk shores and perished seals on that site
Turned my face pale in their horrifying sight.
A nightmare it is that could be our tomorrow,
If climate change isn’t addressed right now.
The greed of man ruined many species so far,
But if it persists, it’d annihilate him too, for sure.
